The Agreement (Guarantee)

For the purpose of this agreement, Pigboat Recording Studio—a registered business in the state of Washington, U.S.A.—will be referred to as ‘PRS Distro.’  The artist(s) signing the agreement, will be referred to as ‘the client.’

In exchange for a fee (that figure will be given to you by a PRS Distro sales representative), PRS Distro guarantees the following to the client:

1.  That extensive research, maintenance, and market-hunting has been invested, and continues to be expended, to ensure that our data-base of non-commercial radio-stations, is kept free of dead-markets, informed as to any changes in the same, such as format/genre-switches, and is in a state of on-going expansion.  Through our research, direct contacts, and market-verification procedures, CD’s sent out, go to where they need to go.

2.  That PRS Distro. will send the client’s music to the proper station, i.e., that an alternative rock sampling, will hit a station that plays alternative rock, and that the same station has been verified to be of the type that ‘receives unsolicited material’ to be housed in their music library for play-consideration.

3.  Airplay CANNOT be guaranteed!  However, PRS Distro. will guarantee to all clients involved, that their music cannot be played on radio stations, and will NEVER be played, if a station or stations do not have their music.  Therefore, through the use of our data-base of coast-to-coast, active radio stations, our screening process (performed by our sales representatives, and other quality-control procedures, which ensures that the music, regardless of type, style, or genre, is of the minimum bar required for air-time consideration), the odds of some airplay occurring, will rise dramatically.  Something to consider: If your music is good, and we put it into the hands of several hundred radio stations that have an open-door policy for submitted music, chances for actual air-time exposure will no longer be in the realm of fantasy, but will be real, and tangible.

4.  According to current industry standards, the number one way that recording contracts are landed, is BY tracked airplay on radio stations, such as community, non-profit organizational, and college stations.

5.  We guarantee that any music submitted, will not, and will never be, distributed to any individual, party, group, or otherwise, other than what has been contracted for.  Permission may be asked of the client to forward their work to interested parties, such as record labels and/or producers interested in signing, or otherwise working with the client.  This net-working feature is performed free of charge by PRS Distro, and again, never without prior permission.

6.  All CD’s shipped by PRS Distro are sent USPS Media Rate.  The client will be given that information(using e-mail as a primary means of communication), which will include a list of all stations that have received their work, the station’s call letters, city and state locales, and any available public request-line telephone number that an individual station may have.  Information of this type, is often used by artists for placement on their Web sites, or for publication purposes otherwise highlighting the client’s work.

Along with all other agreements made between PRS Distro. and the client, the client agrees to not use any information provided by PRS Distro. in any financial, competitive manner.  Specifically, any information concerning PRS Distro’s data-base, its contents, its details, or any information gleaned from proof-of-delivery that PRS Distro may provide, will not be used by the client—to form, copy, or otherwise ‘clone’, to manufacture their own database for commercial use, or in any manner, professional, or otherwise, that then seeks to garner a financial benefit.

Where do we get our data?

PRS Distro is the brainchild of Joel, Jerome and Chris, musicians and Studio Engineer/Producers trying to promote independent music

Shortly afterward, Chris came onboard and has developed the networking with labels and distributors.

Through sophisticated Internet data-mining, and brute force research, they have compiled a comprehensive  proprietary database encompassing every FM radio station (more than 12000, +9000 commercial and+2300 non-commercial).

Thousands of man hours spent sifting through TENS OF THOUSANDS of pages of information (culled from U.S. Government resources, professional trade publications, forums, ezines, and other datum), have yielded an information gold-mine, where radio stations can now be queried by it's particular on-air programming schedules (the genre(s) of music they present to the public), and whether or not they accept independent music submissions.
